MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
The largest of the ten national parks Uganda covers an area of about 3,893 sq. kilometers.
From Kampala to Murchison Falls it takes about 5-6 hours
It’s well known for its rolling savannah, wetland, as well as tropical forest and the stunning water falls,
Rich in flora and fauna with over 70 mammal species, over 445 bird species among others.
QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Opened by Queen Elizabeth of England in 1995 Queen Elizabeth park is located in the Southwestern part of Uganda 6-7 hours’ drive from Kampala capital city. The park is a wonderful addition to gorilla highlights holiday. The abundancy of wildlife thriving in its diverse ecosystem of sprawling savanna, humid forests and sparkling lakes. Rare tree climbing lions live in the Ishasha sector, has many other species say the antelopes, buffalos, crocodiles, elephants, leopards, hippopotamus among others. Other attractions include chimp tracking in Kyambura gorge, kazinga channel launch trip with a variety of birds and animals.
LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
Located in Southwestern part of Uganda about 260 Kilometers from Kampala 3-4 hrs. The park covers over 260sqkm and is home to zebras, elands, Topi, impalas among other wildlife. Apart from a game drive you can do a nature walk here, bicycle safari or boat safari on Lake Mburo to view the aquatic wildlife.
KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK
Most remote National Park in Uganda Located in the far Northeastern corner of Uganda along the borders with Sudan and Kenya. It covers an area of about 1,442sqkm 12hours drive or more in good weather from Kampala. The Park is regarded as a fabulous national park because of its mountain scenery and savannah plains.
BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
Covers an area of about 331square kilometers. 8-10 hours’ drive from Kampala. The park has both lowland and montane rainforest with thick bushes of herbs. The forest is a home to mountain gorillas in the world. More than a half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas is found in Bwindi impenetrable forest about 325 out of 770 individuals.
KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
Located in the Western part of Uganda 5-6 hours’ drive from Kampala capital city. Covers an area of 795km2 and is bordering Queen Elizabeth National Park.it is home to the chimpanzees no wonder it’s known as the primate’s capital of the world.
MGAHINGA GORILLA NATIONAL PARK
Uganda’s smallest yet most scenic National Park it boasts three Virunga volcanoes: Muhavura (4127m) with a lake at the top, mount Gahinga (3474m) with a swamp filled crater and Sabinyo (3669m) where Uganda, Rwanda and Congo meet.
Apart from the gorillas the park is also home to the golden monkeys and gorillas therefore
It’s where gold meets silver.
MOUNT ELGON NATIONAL PARK
Mountain Elgon is an extinct volcano that first erupted more than 24 million years ago.
With the largest surface area of any extinct Volcano in the world (50km by 80km),
Mount Elgon is the fourth highest mountain in East Africa, with the second highest peak in Uganda (Wagagai peak, 4321 m).
MT. RWENZORI NATIONAL PARK
Located in the western part of Uganda on the border of Uganda and Congo.
The park has an area of 998 sq km and was named after the famous Rwenzori Mountains
also referred to as the “Mountains of the Moon.”
Has an elevation of 5,109m. The Rwenzori range has 6 major peaks, The highest peak is called Margherita peak
SEMLIKI FOREST NATIONAL PARK
It is located in the extreme west of Uganda It lies along the Uganda and Congo border
Located within the western arm of the EastAfrican Rift valley.
The park covers an area of 220 sq km and covers an eastern extension of the vast Ituri Forest.
Known as bird lovers’ paradise.
