Wildlife photography is one of the most rewarding yet challenging genres of photography. Capturing animals in their natural habitat requires patience, the right gear, and an understanding of animal behavior.

Essential Gear

• Camera Body: A DSLR or mirrorless camera with fast autofocus and good low-light performance.
• Lenses: A telephoto lens (200-600mm) is essential for capturing wildlife from a safe distance. A wide-angle lens is useful for landscape shots.
• Stabilization: A monopod or beanbag helps stabilize your camera, especially when using heavy telephoto lenses.
• Protection: Camera rain covers and lens hoods are essential for the unpredictable African weather.

Camera Settings

• Shutter Priority (Tv): Use a fast shutter speed (1/1000s or faster) to freeze motion, especially for birds and running animals.
• Aperture Priority (Av): Use a wide aperture (f/2.8 - f/5.6) for shallow depth of field and blurring backgrounds.
